Dental and Periodontal Exams

A Dental and Periodontal Examination helps your Dentist or Dental Hygienist determine the overall health of your teeth and gums with an assessment of plaque accumulation, gums redness, bleeding or receding. Evaluation of your bite, tooth sensitivity, loose teeth, periodontal abscess, bone structure and any potential risk factors.

Oral Cancer Screening

During this brief but critical exam, our Dentist or Dental Hygienist will check all of the soft tissues in your mouth for early signs of oral cancer. This disease is not easily noticed by the untrained eye but when caught early by your Dentist or Dental Hygienist it is highly treatable and can be life-saving!

CLEAN SMILES DENTAL

Professional, Gentle and Effective Periodontal maintenance (professional teeth cleaning/ hygiene)

Our highly skilled Dentist and Dental Hygienists have many techniques to help our patients that are suffering from gum disease (gingivitis), bone disease (periodontitis) or excessive plaque build-up.

Your Dental Hygienist will provide custom advice to improve your gums and maintain your dental health going forward.

CLEAN SMILES

Periodontal Maintenance

Mouth Maintenance for Periodontally Compromised Patients is recommended and we can book your semi-annual or quarterly appointments in advance.

Tooth scaling, or (deep cleaning), reaches below the gum line to remove excessive plaque buildup and to mitigate the effects of gum disease. Tooth scaling is often followed by another procedure called root planing. While tooth scaling is performed to remove excessive plaque, root planing is utilized to smooth the surface of the root so that gums may heal and again fit tightly around the tooth.

Dental Implants Care

Dental implants are typically a single tooth replacement – an artificial tooth designed to replace a lost or damaged natural tooth. Dental implants are supported by bone and gum structures and need special attention to maintain good oral health.

Your Dental Hygienist will provide a safe and thorough cleaning of all teeth, including implants! We can explain the proper care of dental implants at home. By establishing an effective home care regimen and regular dental checkups and cleanings, all your teeth will remain healthy and your implants will serve you well for many years to come.

Tooth Polishing (Stain Removal)

Our Tooth polishing or (stain removal) is typically done after a thorough cleaning and just before fluoride treatment. Tooth polishing is commonly performed with a prophy cup – a small rubber cup – along with a mildly abrasive polishing compound. Smooth, bright and stain-free teeth can be a tremendous confidence booster. When you feel confident about the look and feel of your teeth, you’re more likely to embrace good oral care habits.

Dental Sealants

Cavities can be caused by deep pits and fissures on chewing surfaces of teeth.  These pits are hard to reach, as a result bacteria can grow at the base of the pits. This is the main reason a cavity can start.

To prevent the formation of cavities, we apply a coating of plastic (resin) material on top of those pits and fissures . This makes a good seal on those deep groves.

This is a noninvasive treatment, which requires no anesthetic (needle) and no tooth structure need to be removed.

Laser Treatment for Gum Therapy, and Much More

In our periodontal laser therapy, your Dentist or Dental Hygienist uses a laser to remove the inflamed gum tissue from around your tooth’s root. Then we remove the tartar and plaque built up below and around your gumline. Next, we use a tool to smooth out any rough spots on your teeth above and below the gumline. This procedure is completely painless. Ask our Clean Smiles Staff to learn more!
