Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are dental hygiene services (dental cleanings) covered by my dental insurance?
Dental hygiene and preventative care services are covered under most dental plans. Contact your provider for specific coverage details. Clean Smiles Dental Hygiene Clinic is an independent dental hygiene clinic and can direct bill your provider for services rendered. We can also pre-authorize your planned treatment, so there are no financial surprises after your appointment. We welcome your questions!
Q: Do I need to go to a dental office for my dental hygiene services?
The choice is yours. You can go to a dental office or choose to have customize dental hygiene care and services performed at an independent dental hygiene clinic like ours. At Clean Smiles Dental Hygiene Clinic, we offer professional dental hygiene services featuring the latest technology, all in a stress-free and relaxed environment at an affordable price.
Q: Do I need my dentist’s permission to have dental hygiene services performed elsewhere?
You can choose to have your dental hygiene services from any registered dental hygienist. At Clean Smiles Dental Hygiene Clinic, our registered dental hygienists are trained to recognize and assess any dental concerns that need to be addressed. We work synergistically with dentists and dental specialists to achieve your optimal oral health. We strive to provide preventative care to avoid any dental problems and work with our patients to maintain oral health.
Q: What should I know (or expect) from my first visit?
- Please arrive 10-15 minutes early.
- Fill out our patient information form and get to know us.
- Bring your insurance card and information with you.
- Feel free to ask any questions you might have.
- Expect your first appointment (for adults) to be about 1 ½ hours.
- We help our patients have one less thing to worry about by providing direct billing from dental insurance companies. It is your responsibility, however, to pay the portion of services not covered by an insurance provider. If you are unfamiliar with how your dental insurance works – or the amount of your coverage – our administrative team will be happy to assist you.
Q: What is the right age for kids to start oral assessment, preventative care/dental hygiene services?
We recommend that children commence receiving hygiene services at 2-3 years of age. It is always better to start early so that any dental issues can be detected and addressed sooner, rather than later. For young children, the first couple visits are primarily for them to get to know us and get comfortable with our relaxed environment. We love to work with kids and to assist them in creating healthy oral habits and to maintain healthy and clean smiles.
Q: It’s been a long time since I’ve had my teeth checked and cleaned, is it too late now?
At Clean Smiles Dental Hygiene Clinic, we pride ourselves on being non-judgmental. We believe it is never too late to start working towards a healthier smile. We will assess your dentition and soft tissue health and guide you in the right direction. Once any dental work needed has been performed by a dentist, your registered dental hygienist can make a dental hygiene plan (in our office and at your home) for you to maintain a clean and healthy smile.
